Dr. Fanta Aw, Managing Director and Executive President of NAFSA (Association of International Educators), honored us with an official visit this Saturday, March 15, 2025 during her regional exchange trip to West Africa, where she made a stop in Senegal. She was accompanied by Mr. Samba Dieng, NAFSA Board Member and Director of International Relations at Louisiana State University; Dr. Korka Sall, Academic Director at MSU/WARC; and Dr. Stephens (Ghana).

NAFSA: A global education organization
NAFSA is the world's largest organization dedicated to education and academic exchange, representing over 11,000 members from 4,300 institutions in 170 countries. At the head of this organization, Dr. Aw works to promote international academic collaboration, strengthen student and faculty mobility, and develop internationalization strategies for higher education institutions.
A strategic exchange for the future of African education
The visit provided a unique opportunity for dialogue and reflection on the strategic challenges of internationalizing African higher education. It also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the possibilities for cooperation between YKA and North American universities, academic mobility and the development of new institutional partnerships.
Dr. Aw's words of praise for the whole team after his visit to YKA touched us deeply, and reinforced our conviction that YKA is a unique crucible for the future of African education.
Dr. Fanta Aw's testimonial
"As my time in Dakar, Senegal 🇸🇳 draws to a close, I feel deeply inspired by the visionary work of Moustapha Diop, PhD and Dr. Arame Talltwo extraordinary founders who are redefining education in Senegal.
Éduqués aux États-Unis et profondément attachés à leurs racines sénégalaises, ils sont revenus pour fonder Yenne Kids' Academy (YKA)-a pioneering institution setting a new benchmark in preschool and primary education. YKA is truly bilingual, rooted in Senegalese social values and traditions, and designed with an emphasis on skills-based learning, community involvement and individualized learning plans.
What impressed me most was how student-centered every aspect of the school is. The school is based on the belief that every student has the potential to succeed through the right teaching environment and pedagogy. They use artificial intelligence technology to support teachers, families and students, ensuring real-time monitoring of academic progress and an evidence-based approach. The level of intentionality in program design, teacher training and the physical learning environment is nothing short of extraordinary.
YKA embodies excellence and redefines what is possible in education on a global scale. I leave Dakar deeply moved and full of hope for the future of learning in Senegal and beyond.
