Educational visit to the Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar

June 7, 2024 will remain a memorable date for us, marked by our visit to the Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar. This educational outing enabled our students to discover the rich and diverse history of Africa, while enjoying a day full of learning and discovery.

A Comfortable and Pleasant Journey

We started our day with a convoy of air-conditioned buses and two other vehicles to the Diamniadio TER station. The bus ride was a pleasant one, with our students sitting comfortably and chatting excitedly about what lay ahead. Arriving at Diamniadio station, we boarded the TER train - a first for some of us - which took us directly to Dakar station.

A Fascinating Exploration

When we arrived at the museum, the excitement was palpable. The students had the opportunity to explore several captivating exhibits, each telling an essential part of African history. The exhibits on African leaders particularly caught their attention, highlighting the inspiring journeys of emblematic figures from the continent.

Sections devoted to travel and exploration gave students an insight into the vast trade networks and cultural exchanges that have shaped African history. A visit to the galleries on early man offered a fascinating insight into human evolution, enriching our young explorers' understanding of the origins of humankind.

A Pleasant End to the Day

The visit ended with a well-deserved moment of relaxation. We organized a picnic in the museum garden, giving our students a place to rest and exchange impressions of the visit. The garden's green and soothing setting was the perfect way to end this enriching day on a positive note.

An Educational and Fun Experience

This outing to the Museum of Black Civilization was an exceptional educational experience for our students. It enabled them to connect with their cultural heritage and understand the importance of African history in the global context. We are grateful to the museum staff for their warm welcome and commitment to sharing their knowledge with younger generations.
